Metro State's high quality academic experience is distinct through outstanding and committed faculty with a passion for teaching. At Metro State, we empower our students to achieve success through a blend of theory and applied learning that is relevant, high quality and diverse. Our vibrant, urban-enriched location connects our students to the heart of the city, expanding their perspectives and experiences. The city is an extended campus that provides more social, ethnic and cultural diversity in and out of classroom and gives our faculty connections with the community to provide experiential and service learning opportunities.
With a long-term goal of becoming the preeminent public urban baccalaureate college in the nation, Metro State has a solid foundation upon which to build further academic and athletic excellence. Here are just a few highlights:
- Recognized as having one of the top teacher-preparation programs in the state, Metro State has been awarded two multimillion-dollar federal grants related to teacher education.
- Criminal Justice and Criminology, the only program of its kind in the state, has graduates who are or have been the police chiefs in most of Colorado's large cities.
- The Aviation and Aerospace Science program is the fifth-largest in the country and offers the only four-year degree in the state.
- An NCAA Division II powerhouse, Metro State's student-athletes achieve great athletic and academic success, with four national championships in eight years. Metro State's student-athletes have some of the highest graduation rates in the country.
- More than 21,000 students attend Metro State, and more students transfer here than to any other college in the state. We also enroll the highest number of ethnic minorities of all four-year colleges in the state. We boast more than 60,000 alumni, 90 percent of whom choose to remain in Colorado after graduation.
