Enrollment Planning Guide

  1. Check Admissions Requirements

    Requirements for Applicants 20 Years of Age and Older.

  2. Apply for Admission

    Fill out an Application for Admissions online or request a printed applicatin from the Office of Admissions. Call 303-556-3058 or visit us at the Central Classroom building, Room 108 on the Auraria campus.

  3. Have your Transcripts Evaluated

    If you have a student copy of your transcripts from any previous college, the Transfer Services Counselors will provide a free preliminary transcript evaluation service. Visit Central Classroom building Room 103 or call 303-556-3774 for more information.

  4. See if you are Eligible to Receive College Credit

    Knowledge comes not only from the college classroom, but also from experience while on the job, as a volunteer, military training, or through self-directed study. Such learning may qualify for college credit if it is shown to be college-level and equivalent to the learning expected in courses taught at Metro State.

    CLEP EXAMS
    CLEP is a series of national, standardized examinations given by the College Board. For a complete list of CLEP exams accepted at Metro State, including score level requirements, testing dates, and registration materials, contact the Assessment and Testing Center in Tivol, Room 374, 303- 556-3677.

    DEPARTMENTAL CREDIT BY EXAMINATION
    Credit may be awarded through examinations developed and administered by the individual academic department. The student should consult with the specific department to determine if this option is appropriate. Application forms are available at the Center for Individualized Learning in Central Classroom,Room106.

    PORTFOLIO ASSESSMENT
    A portfolio allows you to describe, analyze, and document the learning you have acquired through experience outside the college classroom. Successful development of a portfolio requires time, effort and effective writing skills. Contact an advisor in the Center for Individualized Learning Central Classroom, Room106 to determine if Portfolio assessment is the right option for you.

    AMERICAN COUNCIL on EDUCATION (ACE) GUIDES
    The published ACE guides list many educational and training programs offered by government agencies, private corporations, and professional associations which have been assessed by the American Council on Education as equivalent to college-level learning. Metro State may award credit when that learning is similar in content to courses offered by the college. Students should have their records sent to the Admissions Office Central Classroom, Room 108. Call 303-556-3058.

    MILITARY TRAINING
    Credit may be awarded for military training. Applicants should submit copies of the DD-214, DD-295 and any training certificates to the Registrar’s Office for evaluation. Contact the Admissions Office, Central Classroom, Room108. Call 303-556-3058.
